Counseling services are provided in the classroom for children who are diagnosed as emotionally disturbed. This program is provided by a collaborative between Stanislaus Behavioral Health and Recovery Services, Stanislaus County Department of Education and Sierra Vista Child & Family Services. Public school based counseling is also provided on-site at schools to children that are referred by school staff or family. School districts also contract for behavioral assessment, plan development, and implementation for students in kindergarten through twelfth grade. Preventative programs are available for younger children. Referrals are made by school staff or the families of children who are experiencing stress, grief, behavioral difficulties or other adjustment problems. The services are provided at no cost to children's families.
