Sierra Vista Family Resource Drop-In Center

Sierra Vista Family Resource Drop-In Center focus is on improving the well-being of Stanislaus County Logochildren, youth, families, and communities.

Our goal is to ensure that the children and families in our area are provided access to programs and services.

These free programs and services are provided as a part of the Family Resource Center Connection that includes Parent Resource Center, Modesto Airport Neighbors United and Sierra Vista Child & Family Services. In addition, this Resource Center is part of the Family Resource Connection Collaborative.

Community Services Provided

Family Support
The family support program provides one-on-one assistance for parents seeking additional support services. The program helps parents identify areas that need to be strengthened, set goals for the family, pro­vide advocacy and support in the school system and a link with other community organizations.

Parent Education Programs
The center offers a variety of parent education programs in both English and Spanish. Topics include positive discipline, working with difficult children, school readiness and alcohol/drug awareness.

Support Groups
Sierra Vista Drop-In Center provides on-going support groups for families including Healthy Living groups. Please ask for further information.

Spanish Support Group
The support group discusses different topics with community members as guest speakers.

Latino Literacy Program
Offered twice a year for children 0-5.

Community Referrals
The Drop-In Center can offer referrals and link­ages to services such as housing assistance, food, diapers, support groups, prenatal care, medical services and counseling. These services are avail­able to everyone in the community.

Clothes Closet
The clothes closet provides clothing for children and parents. This was designed to help families provide adequate clothing for their children, as well as cloth­ing that may be needed for parents who are return­ing to the work force. The eligibility for use of the clothes closet is determined on a case-by-case basis. Access is available by appointment.

Additional Services
The Sierra Vista Drop-In Center also has a com­puter, printer and internet connection available to the public. Also offered is a library of books, board games and VHS tapes that can be checked out by families. Please call to determine availability.
